Verizon provided a grant to Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS), a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and the promotion of child safety. Recognizing that education is the key to prevention, CAPS will roll out its "SurfSafe" program to 5th graders in the Fall of 2009. The Verizon grant will be used to develop "SurfSafe", an Internet safety program for 5th graders. During its annual luncheon, CAPS awarded Verizon the Corporate Citizen Award, in recognition of Verizon's dedication to philanthropy and activism on Long Island.
