Verizon Foundation President Rose Kirk presented $30,000 in HopeLine from Verizon grants to two Dallas-area women’s shelters Friday night at the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration.
HopeLine from Verizon program, which collects no-longer used phones and recycles or refurbishes them, using proceeds to fund programs that raise awareness, promote prevention and support victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
The Genesis Women’s Shelter and Women Called Moses Coalition and Outreach each received grants of $15,000.
The grant announcements were part of several events Verizon participated in last week in Dallas to address the issue of domestic violence. On Thursday, the Verizon Foundation announced an intention to partner with the NFL Players Association to provide domestic violence prevention training and information to teenagers taking part in the association’s Training Camp for Life program.
