Literacy Summit.2

Verizon Foundation partnered with the American Library Association, Georgetown University, National Center for Family Literacy, National Coalition for Literacy and ProLiteracy Worldwide for its second national summit to continue collaboration and expansion of the focus on advancing, effective literacy programs across the nation.

The second annual literacy event, which convened in the latter part of October 2006, assembled literacy providers, corporate and government representatives, and academic researchers to identify "What Works" in literacy across the lifespan. Participants learned about proven program elements, outcomes and measures.

Verizon's Life Span Literacy Matrix was also unveiled as a single source for information and direction to enable the literacy community and community-based organizations to put research into practice.
