The team must consist of 10 or more active Verizon employees who participate in an organized "pledge-a-thon" fundraising event (walk-a-thon, bike-a-thon, bowl-a-thon, read-a-thon, etc.) held by a qualified nonprofit organization.

• In order for an event to qualify as an organized "pledge-a-thon" fundraising event, the primary purpose for the event must be to raise donations pledged on behalf of event participants for the nonprofit organization prior to the event taking place
• The event participants must participate in a coordinated group activity (e.g. walk-a-thon, bike-a-thon, read-a-thon, etc.) during the event
• The event must be open to the general public; not just the Verizon team members
• Telethon/Radiothon events are not eligible
• Ten or more active full or part-time employees required to participate per team
• All pledged donations raised must be recorded by the individual team members on pledge sheets or an online donation site, and the pledged donations and pledge sheets must be submitted to nonprofit Event Coordinator within 2 weeks after event has ended
• Each active employee is eligible to receive a maximum match of $1,000 each year
• Funds are matched 1:1 for a maximum gift of $10,000 per event
• Multiple teams may not be created/matched for the exact same event
• Events created/organized by Verizon employees to benefit a nonprofit organization are not eligible
• Match amount cannot be used to subsidize the prerequisite pledge amount required by the organization (i.e. - Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day prerequisite $1,900)
• Teams should not rely on the pledge-raising efforts of one member. One member cannot raise all of team's pledges and then disburse it to other team members in order to receive matching funds. Each team member must collect/raise their own pledges/funds.
• Only employees team members who register for the TIP event on the Verizon Foundation’s matching gifts website on or before the event start date are eligible to be matched.
• Hours spent organizing and preparing for the team event are not eligible for the Volunteer Incentive Program.
• TIP pledges are not eligible for matching via the Matching Incentive Program.
• Retirees are ineligible

Please be sure to abide by all Matching Gifts Program rules. Only those application that adhere to the rules will be considered for approval and payout. All Matching Gift requests are subject to review by Verizon Internal Audit and Verizon Security. As stated in the code of Conduct, Verizon does not tolerate falsification or improper alteration of records. Failure to comply with any provision of the Code or company policy is a serious violation, and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
